Travel to the PRH

For New Englanders

The AMC Joe Dodge Lodge and adjacent Pinkham Notch Visitor Center are located on NH Rt. 16, 11.8 miles north of the intersection with Rt. 302 in Glen, NH and 10.6 miles south of the intersection with Rt. 2 in Gorham, NH. GPS coordinates: [44.25722, -71.25277]. This location is 3 hours north of Boston, MA and 2 hours north of Concord, NH.

Plan to arrive at Joe Dodge Lodge by 3:00pm on Saturday to check in. We will meet in the common space at the lodge shortly thereafter. Parking is often tight during the day at Pinkham: park in any legal space and you will have time to repark after the day visitors leave. Final details will be sent out prior to the trip.

Flying in

If you are not local to New England and will need to fly in, there are two commercial options: flying into Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, NH or flying into Logan International Airport in Boston, MA.

While Manchester is closer to Pinkham Notch, there is no public transportation. People who fly into Manchester typically ask for a volunteer among local participants who will be traveling up Rte. 93 to stop and pick them up (it is a small airport) on the way to our gathering point at AMC’s Pinkham Notch visitor center.

Boston’s Logan Airport does have a once a day bus option that will get you to and/or from Pinkham courtesy of  Concord Coach Lines. The bus departs Logan Airport at 3:25 PM and arrives at Pinkham at 8:10 PM. The return to Logan Airport leaves Pinkham at 8:07 AM and arrives at Logan 12:30 PM. Check with them for the most up-to-date information.

Rental vehicles are available at both airports. Past participants had success with Enterprise and requested a “one-way” contract with a drop-off in Gorham, NH. You can then arrange a ride from Gorham to Pinkham Notch with another participant or a local taxi. For your return, you can either rent a car back in Gorham or ask a fellow participant for a ride. Bus options are listed above.

Lodging before and/or after the PRH

If you fly in, we highly recommend that you arrive at Pinkham a day early and leave the day after the hike. To make an overnight reservation at the AMC Joe Dodge Lodge in Pinkham Notch for that Friday and/or Sunday night, simply reach out to amclodging@outdoors.org or call (603) 466-2727. There are many lodging options in Gorham, Jackson, North Conway, Conway and other surrounding towns. You need to be at Pinkham by 3:00 on Saturday to check in, and at the conclusion of the PRH we typically return to Pinkham mid to late afternoon on Sunday of the following weekend.
