Food

The huts provide hearty meals for breakfast and supper. Breakfasts usually consist of oatmeal followed by pancakes or eggs and bacon/sausage. The hut croos make sure that coffee (regular and decaf) is always available in the morning. Suppers are served in three courses: they start off with a bowl of soup, followed by the entree and sides, topped off with dessert and coffee. The huts will prepare vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free meals upon request.  Please let us know when you register if you have any dietary requests.

We provide trail lunches and snacks. Peanut butter, pita bread, candy bars, cheese sticks, crackers, energy bars, gorp, cookies, jerky, etc. will be distributed at the start of the hike and again mid-trip at the Highland Center. Unless you have special dietary needs or like to bring specialized food, you do not need to bring any food. However, we do recommend that you bring limited quantities of your favorite snack – that’s what you will eat on trail when nothing else seems appetizing. You can also buy snacks at the huts if needed, but we always have plenty of food.  It is very important when distance hiking to EAT PLENTY of calories to sustain energy levels and replenish muscles.
